AMERICAN ACADEMY IN ROME – ROME, ITALY
Archaeology Supervisor. The American Academy in Rome is accepting applications for Archaeology Supervisor, a one-third-time position with a three-year term. The American Academy in Rome provides logistical support (laboratory facilities, some instrumentation, and the services of the Archaeology Supervisor and Archaeology Laboratory Assistant) to a variety of affiliated projects, which are proposed to and approved by an international committee of scholars, the Archaeology Advisory Committee.
The successful candidate will have a higher degree in archaeology or a related field, long first-hand familiarity, through participation, with the practice of archaeology in Italy, knowledge of classical sites in Italy and the Mediterranean, fluent command of Italian and English, knowledge of the classical languages, excellent capacities for organization, successful experience in working with Italian governmental agencies, and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with a wide variety of people.
The Archaeology Supervisor's duties include: 1) Facilitating the work of project directors for Academy-affiliated projects in Italy, 2) managing the Archaeology Laboratory, and 3) providing expert advice to the Academy community and to the public.
