Margaret Thompson Assistant Curator of Greek Coins. The American Numismatic Society is resuming its search to fill the position of Margaret Thompson Assistant Curator of Greek Coins. The Society seeks an energetic and creative individual to oversee its collections of Greek and Roman Provincial coins. The successful candidate will assist other curatorial staff in creating new exhibition and teaching programs for Greek and ancient coins for the general public, collectors, students and academics. The assistant curator is expected to interpret the collection to diverse audiences through exhibitions, publications, lectures, academic conferences, and other activities.

The curator should hold a Ph.D. or be in the final stages of a Ph.D. program, or have equivalent qualifications in a related field, such as history, art history, or archaeology. The curator is expected to be or to become a recognized expert in his/her field, through study, research, writing, and publication on coinage, including the accurate publication of objects in the Society's collection, and to provide instruction in Classical numismatics at the ANS Graduate Seminar and elsewhere. All ANS curators are expected to participate actively in the Society's development, outreach and public relations initiatives.

The position, which is funded by a restricted endowment, is advertised on the level of Assistant Curator for two years, with a possibility of renewal. The Chairman of the Personnel Committee is Professor Thomas Martin. Shortlisted candidates should expect to be interviewed by a special appointment committee in May or early June.
