Assistant Development Officer. The American Philological Association seeks a development officer with at least 1 to 3 years of experience to coordinate all of its fund-raising activities. Reporting to the Association's Executive Director, the Officer will support him, the Development Committee, and the Capital Campaign Committee in carrying out an annual giving campaign and a $4,000,000 capital campaign ending in January 2011. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with 1-3 years of development experience to help to shape and execute a capital campaign. This position is contingent upon funding, and this funding has been approved through June 30, 2011.

Candidates must have a B.A. or B.S. or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as well as a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a fund-raising office. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both oral and written; excellent proofreading skills; and strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to work independently from a home office with regular visits to the Association Office at the University of Pennsylvania. Candidates must be willing to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed; travel will include attendance at the Association's annual meeting in early January of each year. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates with a knowledge of an academic environment and of the humanities (especially Classical Studies) are highly preferred.

The current salary range for this position as established by the University of Pennsylvania is as follows: Minimum: $34,165; Top of First Third: $43,276; Top of Second Third: $52,386; Maximum: $61,497.
