The annual meeting will be held at two venues, which are located directly across the street from one another- the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel (500 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130) and the New Orleans Marriott Hotel (555 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130). The Sheraton is the headquarters hotel for the 2015 Joint Annual Meeting. It will be the venue for the majority of conference activities, including academic sessions, the Exhibit Hall, convention registration, and most committee/interest group meetings and special events. The Marriott will host the majority of SCS placement interviews as well as some committee/interest group meetings and special events.
As of November 24, 2014, only the Marriott has rooms available at the discounted group rate of $159 USD per night, plus taxes for a single (one bed) or double (two beds) hotel room (up to four people are allowed per room) and the rate includes complimentary in room High Speed Internet. If making reservations by phone, be sure to mention the AIA/SCS Joint Annual Meeting or group code "AAI" to obtain the discounted conference rate. Make your reservation by December 15, 2014, to ensure the availability of the convention rate.
Our discounted group rate is now sold out at the Sheraton, but rooms may become available periodically due to cancellations. What is the importance of booking at our official Annual Meeting Hotels?
The AIA and SCS are proud to have produced the Joint Annual Meeting for our members for more than a century. Financially, we are able to do this by reserving a large block of rooms with the official Annual Meeting hotel(s). In exchange, these hotels offer our attendees the guaranteed lowest group rate at the hotel and provide us with complimentary meeting space. If we are unable to meet our guaranteed minimum number of registered guests, the AIA and SCS must pay for the unused guest rooms as well as meeting space rental, which can amount to a severe financial penalty to both associations.
