Opening Night Reception

Join the AIA and SCS in officially opening up the Annual Meeting. This event will take place from 7:00-9:00pm.

Luis Alfaro Lecture

Los Angeles playwright Luis Alfaro will be presenting his lecture - "From the Ancient to the Streets of L.A.: Imagining the Greek Classics for Communities Today" - from 8:15-9:30pm.

COGSIP/WCC/LCC Opening Night Reception

This annual tradition features the many awards given by the WCC as well as a costume contest. It will take place from 10:00pm-12:00am.

Friday, January 4th

Presidential Panel

SCS President Joe Farrell's invited speakers will speak on "Global Classics." This talk will take place from 5:00-7:00pm

"15 Black Classicists: Portraits from our Discipline's Early Years"

A photo installation and reception, information on this event is forthcoming. It will take place from 7:00-9:00pm.

CAMP Play

The SCS Committee on Ancient and Modern Performance will be presenting Assembly Women, an Aristophanes play translated by Jeff Henderson, SCS former president and current chair of the Classics Advisory Service.

The comedy will take place on from 8:00-10:00pm.

Saturday, January 5th

Ancient MakerSpaces

This all-day workshop returns with speakers and practical instruction in Digital Humanities.

Ancient MakerSpaces will run on Saturday, January 5th from 8:30am-3:00pm

Career Networking

This event pairs Classicists working outside of academia with graduate students, contingent faculty, and other interested parties to spread information about career opportunities for Classics graduates.

Plenary Session

SCS Awards and other honors will be given out to their respective winners. This will take place from 5:00-6:00pm.

Mary Beard Lecture

Professor Mary Beard will be presenting a public lecture - "What is Classics?" - from 6:00-7:30pm
