The SCS Program Committee is pleased to invite proposals to present Papers or Panels at the 2014 Annual Meeting in Chicago and proposals for Organizer-Refereed Panels for presentation at the 2015 Annual Meeting in New Orleans. We also invite applications to become an Affiliated Group beginning in 2015 or to apply for renewal if necessary. The instructions on how to file proposals in the various categories are listed below.

Deadlines

The deadline for submission of all of these materials except individual abstracts will be April 12, 2013. The deadline for submission of individual abstracts will be May 1, 2013. Note that the deadline for most submissions is considerably later than usual, but that the individual abstract deadline is a few weeks earlier than usual. All submissions will be reviewed at a single meeting of the Program Committee on June 21-22, 2013, and members will receive the Committee's decisions in early July.

Eligibility

Members wishing to submit a proposal or abstracts to the Program Committee must observe these regulations. Please be sure that your membership is current (i.e., paid up for 2013) before beginning the submission process. If you are not sure whether you have paid your SCS dues for the current year, ask the customer service staff at the Johns Hopkins University Press at jrnlcirc@press.jhu.edu, 800-548-1784 (US and Canada only), or 410-516-6987 (all others). Please note that it can take up to a week for new or renewed memberships to be processed and added to the submission system for proposals and abstracts.

Both members submitting individual abstracts and panel organizers submitting abstracts from their speakers should read the Program Committee's instructions for authors of abstracts. In addition, see suggestions from the Program Committee that emerged from a workshop on abstract writing at the 2010 annual meeting.

Joint Sessions with AIA

Please note that if you intend to submit a proposal for a panel to the AIA as a possible joint session, the submission deadlines for AIA are March 10, 2013 and March 24 (with $25 fee). For more information, please see the AIA Website.
