Classical Studies. The Interdisciplinary Humanities Program at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Classical Studies at the Assistant Professor level, beginning in August 1999. Specialization is open, but candidates with an interest in Greek and Latin literature, art history, religion, or cultural history in classical antiquity are preferred. The Humanities Program grants B.A. and M.A. degrees, focuses on the interdisciplinary study of culture and society, and is currently home to eleven tenured or tenure-track faculty. Candidates should be prepared to offer interdisciplinary courses for a broad undergraduate audience, as well as graduate courses in our master's Program, and generally to represent and integrate the field of Classical Studies within the program. Opportunities may exist for more specialized teaching, such as advanced Greek and Latin. A PhD in Classical Studies or a related field and potential to teach a wide range of interdisciplinary courses are required; teaching experience and publications are preferred.
