Visiting Assistant Professor of History, Ashland University, Ashland, OH. The department of History and Political Science seeks a broadly educated person to fill a one-year replacement position starting fall 2007. Main teaching responsibility comprises introductory courses in Western Civilization and upper-level courses in history of Ancient Greece and Rome. Department emphasizes study of political and intellectual history through primary sources and great texts. Willingness and ability to teach such texts is required as part of Western civilization courses and is an advantage in other courses. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in and strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in traditional liberal arts setting. Completed Ph.D. preferred, but ABDs nearing completion will be considered.
