The department of Classics at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for an Assistant Instructor position in Classics, pending budgetary approval. This is a full-time, non-tenure stream position; the initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and will begin September 1, 2019; the course load is three courses per term. The PhD is required. The department seeks applicants who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to Classics as a meaningful field of study in the modern world. The successful candidate will participate fully in the undergraduate Classics curriculum, teaching Greek and Latin courses at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, and courses in translation (Civilization, History, Mythology); the successful candidate will also engage in departmental activities that support and promote the undergraduate program.
