Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor and specialty area in Greek and Roman law for academic year 2020-2021. The Department of Classical Studies offers undergraduate majors in Classical Civilization, Greek, and Latin, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, and contributes to the training of graduate students in the humanities in the ancient languages. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in both ancient language and Classical Civilization.
The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classics with solid general expertise. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research, and have a record of (or clear potential for) distinguished scholarship, grant-funded research, and student mentorship. Experience conducting research and teaching in the area of ancient Greek or Roman law is desirable. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
