The Department of the Classics at Colgate University invites applications for a tenure-stream position in ancient history at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester 2018. The department seeks a teacher/scholar with an active research agenda and the ability to offer a range of courses in Greco-Roman history and civilization, with competence to address the breadth and diversity of cultures in the ancient Mediterranean world. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute on a regular basis, and at all levels, to the department’s curriculum in Latin and Greek. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. All Colgate faculty are expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
