The Department of Classics at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Latin to begin in August 2020. We are looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas, which would complement the strengths of our department:
- late antique or medieval Latin
- the culture and society of the later Roman Empire
- aspects of the traditions of writing in Latin and their importance up to the present day
The teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate is expected to teach Latin at all levels as well as courses in translation and should demonstrate a strong record of research as well as a commitment to collaborating with colleagues and mentoring undergraduate and postbaccalaureate students.
A Ph.D. is required by the appointment date.
