The Department of Classical and Modern Languages at Austin College invites applications for a three-year position in Classics. We seek a generalist with an emphasis in Latin and Roman studies. Specialty is open; Ph.D. preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to and evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching and be able to teach Latin language and literature at all levels, Roman and Greek history, and Greek language at the elementary and intermediate levels. Teaching duties may include courses in other areas of the candidate's special interest, such as archaeology, women in antiquity, or various topics in literature in translation. Teaching load is three courses in each of two long semesters, and the opportunity to teach during the January Term. Austin College is a selective national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1,300 undergraduates.
