Ave Maria University, Naples, FL, announces a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in fall 2008, pending final budgetary approval. Completion of the Ph.D. by May 2008 is required. The Department is seeking a Latinist to teach core Latin courses at the elementary and intermediate levels and advanced courses in classical Roman or Christian Latin literature. A history or promise of research in poetry or drama will strengthen a candidate's application, but other specializations will be considered. Teaching excellence is the essential quality we are seeking. In addition, the successful applicant will share the educational mission of Ave Maria University, which is the education of the whole person in the Catholic liberal arts tradition, as articulated in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Veritatis Splendor and Fides et Ratio.
