Ave Maria University, Naples, Florida, announces a full-time professorial position to begin in Fall 2004. Completion of the Ph.D. by May 2004 is required. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. The position calls for a generalist to teach a sequence of two freshman-level, required courses in elementary and intermediate Latin language. In addition, applicants should be competent in Golden Age Latin literature and in Patristic and ecclesiastical Latin. The ability to teach New Testament Greek at elementary and intermediate levels is also required. Because the department places emphasis on early Christian studies, research interests related to the first few centuries of Christian literature will strengthen a candidate's application. Experience in teaching is preferred, along with a continuing commitment to scholarship. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. In addition, the successful applicant will be committed to the educational mission of Ave Maria University, which is the education of the whole person in the Catholic liberal arts tradition, as articulated in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Veritatis Splendor and Fides et Ratio.
