Tutorial Fellowship and CUF Lecturership in Ancient History. The College seeks to elect a suitably qualified applicant to a Tutorial Fellowship in Ancient History, to be held in conjunction with a titular CUF Lecturership in the Classics Faculty of Oxford University. The appointment will begin from Oct 1st 2004. The field specified by the Faculty and the College is Greek History. The Fellow will also be expected to provide teaching either in Greek Archaeology or in Roman History. The Fellow will be responsible for the college organisation of Ancient History and Classical Archaeology in Classics Mods; the Joint Honour Schools of Ancient and Modern History and Classical Archaeology and Ancient History; and the Final Honour School of Literae Humaniores. He/she will also be required to contribute to lecturing, examining and graduate supervision for the Classics Faculty, and to carry out advanced research.

The joint salary for the post will be on an age-related scale up to a maximum of £42,900 (subject to an increase which is yet to be agreed). Substantial housing allowances are available for the first six years of a Fellow's appointment; Balliol also operates a Joint Equity Scheme to assist Fellows in the purchase of a house.
