Baylor University's Department of Classics invites applications for a Full-time Lecturer beginning August 2010. The area of specialization is open, but we hope to complement existing faculty strengths. (Possibilities include, but are not limited to, Greek prose, Greek history, Greek philosophy, and post-classical Latin.) Serious applicants should have a demonstrable record of outstanding teaching and show strong scholarly potential. The teaching assignment may include instruction in both languages at the beginning through advanced levels, as well as energetic involvement in the Department's academic community. The person appointed will be expected to engage students intellectually both in and out of the classroom. Our department's majors (Classics, Latin, and Greek) are philologically based, emphasizing a significant quantity of reading in the primary languages.
