BAYLOR UNIVERSITY – WACO, TX (Three Positions)
POSITION ONE: Lecturer in Classics. Baylor University's Department of Classics invites applications for a Full-time Lecturer (four-four teaching load) beginning August 2009. The area of specialization is open, but we hope to complement existing faculty strengths. (Possibilities include, but are not limited to, Greek prose, Hellenistic poetry, and Latin prose.) Serious applicants should have a demonstrable record of outstanding teaching and show strong scholarly potential. The teaching assignment may include instruction in both languages at the beginning through advanced levels, as well as energetic involvement in the Department's academic community. The person appointed will be expected to engage students intellectually both in and out of the classroom. Our department's majors (Classics, Latin, and Greek) are philologically based, emphasizing a significant quantity of reading in the primary languages. Teaching opportunities also exist for our faculty in Baylor's Honors Program and/or the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core.

Assistant to Full Professor of Great Texts. Candidates should possess an earned doctorate with expertise in Comparative Literature and/or Classics and the classical Tradition.
