Baylor University has authorized the Department of Classics to conduct a search for chair. The appointment will be either at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. In making this appointment, the Department will seek a scholar who is best able to contribute to the Department's mission in research and teaching. The person appointed will be expected to maintain and enhance the academic community that already exists in the Department. The Classics major at Baylor is philologically based, emphasizing a significant quantity of reading in the primary languages. Although the field of specialization is open, applicants should have an outstanding publication record and should be committed to excellence in teaching in a liberal arts university.
