Coordinating Editor for Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers

We are looking for a coordinating editor who is a classicist to work with BCP staff and editors in the creation and promotion of new textbooks with a focus on pedagogy and content. Desirable skills include: Empathy/sympathy with the goals of teaching classics; Interest in networking with classicists; An orientation to seek collaboration with other classicists; Career orientation; Commitment to pedagogy; Dedication to the promotion of classics and the humanities in general.

We would prefer an energetic, computer-literate person with experience in the publishing field, an advanced degree, a willingness to relocate (NW Chicago suburb) and a public relations orientation.

Up until now, BCP has focused on providing texts to prepare students to acquire the ability to read classical authors in the original. Recently, we have been focusing on new pedagogy and content. Now, in addition, we have started to focus on providing material for students who are more interested in taking humanities for personal growth and language skills for daily life.

The coordinating editor would be a part of a team that will have considerable influence on the development of classical textbooks and scholarship.

We hope to meet with candidates at the APA meeting in Montreal, and plan to fill the position by the beginning of spring of 2006.
