The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position in Classical Art and Archaeology at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Ph.D. in classical archaeology at the time of appointment is required, and teaching experience is preferred. Specialization preferred in the visual and material culture of the Greek world. Candidates must also be competent to teach Greek and Latin at the undergraduate level.

The department includes five full-time faculty members. It supports a major in Classics and a minor in ancient civilization, as well as a small M.A. program in language and literature; faculty also contribute to the university's core curriculum, and an archeologist will interact in particular with faculty in Fine Arts and History. Teaching duties include five courses annually, usually three on archaeological, historical or material culture topics and two in language.
