Bowdoin College’s Department of Classics invites applications for a two-year replacement position in Classical Archaeology at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level, beginning fall 2011. Ph.D. preferred, but A.B.D. will be considered. A specialization in Classical Archaeology and evidence of strong teaching experience are essential; candidates should also be competent and enthusiastic to teach language courses from the elementary through the advanced undergraduate levels of Greek and/or Latin. Teaching responsibilities include five courses annually, usually three on archaeological topics and two Greek and/or Latin language/literature classes. Of the archaeology courses, one each year will be introductory, Greek and Roman in alternating years, and the others on archaeological subjects of special interest to the candidate and to the department. Applications from candidates with expertise in all areas of Mediterranean archaeology are welcome.
