Bowdoin College, a private, undergraduate, coeducational institution, invites applications for a two-year, non-renewable position in the Department of Classics at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level beginning Fall 2003. Ph.D preferred, A.B.D. will be considered. We seek candidates with teaching interests/expertise in both classical archaeology and ancient history, and a scholarly specialization in one of these areas. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses annually; in addition to two or three courses each year in archaeology and history, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to two or three courses annually to the department's offerings in Greek and/or Latin.

Review of applications will begin December 1, 2002 and interviews will be conducted at the APA/AIA meetings in New Orleans.
