The Department of Classics at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective Fall 1999. This position has been approved by the College's administration, subject to financial availability. Applicants must be prepared to teach core classes in ancient literature and culture, as well as elective courses in classical civilization, and Greek and Latin at every level up to and including the CUNY doctoral program. We seek applicants with research specialization in the history and literature of Rome, along with a special interest in Rome's material culture. Familiarity with computer technology in teaching and research is expected. The candidate should demonstrate strong promise of development as a scholar and teacher and must have the Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 1999. Starting salary ranges from $29,931 to $45,672, depending on qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 1998.
