BROOKLYN COLLEGE – BROOKLYN, NY
The Brooklyn College Classics Department seeks to appoint a full time lecturer beginning in Spring 2010. Annual reappointment proceeds towards a Certificate of Continuous Employment. The successful candidate will be a creative and inspiring educator capable of reaching students from a diverse range of backgrounds. S/he will have a proven track record of teaching Greco-Roman literature and culture in translation, and the ability to teach one, ideally both, of the classical languages at all levels. The lecturer will also contribute to the assessment and revision of departmental courses in the upper and lower tiers of the College’s Core Curriculum. The appointee will be expected to stay abreast of current scholarship as it relates to his/her teaching. At minimum a Baccalaureate degree in the subject area is required; however, a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment is highly desirable.
