The Department of Classics at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective Fall 2005. This position has been approved by the College's administration, subject to financial availability.

Applicants must be prepared to teach core curriculum classes in ancient literature and civilization, elective courses in classical civilization, and Greek and Latin. We seek applicants with research specialization in Roman History with expertise in one of the following areas: 1) Roman Archaeology, 2) Latin Epigraphy, or 3) Roman Numismatics.

The candidate should demonstrate strong promise of development as a scholar and a teacher and must have the Ph.D. by July 1, 2005. Starting salary for an Assistant Professor ranges from $45,163 to $56,014, depending on qualifications and experience.
