Brown University – PROVIDENCE, RI
The Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, Brown University, has obtained authorization to make two one-year visiting appointments at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level (with preference for an Assistant Professor), one in the field of Near Eastern art and archaeology, and one in the field of the art and archaeology of Greece and the eastern Mediterranean. Applications from scholars of any periods and geographic areas within these broad rubrics are encouraged, but candidates with research interests in complex societies, and with fieldwork or museum experience, are particularly welcome. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate and graduate level; interdisciplinary offerings are desirable. Successful candidates will be expected to take a full part in the academic life, and contribute to the development, of the newly established Institute; their background and interests will determine additional departmental affiliations.

The Ph.D. must be in hand by August 2006. Please send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching experience, select publications or other writings, and three letters of reference to: Professor Susan E. Alcock, Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, Box 1837, Providence, RI 02912; e-mail Patricia_Monteiro@Brown.edu. Full consideration will be given to all applications (including letters of reference) received by February 1, 2006.

Brown University is an EEO/AA Employer. Minorities and Women are encouraged to apply.
