BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY – LEWISBURG, PA (Two Positions)

POSITION ONE: Three-year, open rank, assistant professor in the department of classics, based on one-year renewable contracts. ABD considered, Ph.D. preferred. This position will be converted to a tenure-track position at some point during the academic years 2012-13 or 2013-2014, at which time a national search will be held. The department seeks a generalist philologist to teach Latin at all levels, courses on Roman civilization and material culture, and courses in the applicant's area of expertise (specific area of specialization is open). Bucknell has a 5 course/year teaching load at the assistant professor level. Our ideal candidate exhibits a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in the liberal arts tradition, evidence of scholarly achievement or promise, and a willingness to participate in the service demands of a small and thriving department. Bucknell has a 6 course/year teaching load for visiting assistant professors. Our ideal candidate exhibits a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in the liberal arts tradition and evidence of scholarly achievement or promise.
