BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY – LEWISBURG, PA

The Department of Classics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2013. The department seeks a generalist philologist with an emphasis in Latin language and literature to teach a sequence of literature and civilization courses, Latin and Greek at all levels, and courses in the applicant's area of expertise (specific area of specialization is open). Our ideal candidate exhibits a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in the liberal arts tradition, evidence of scholarly achievement or promise, and a willingness to participate in the service demands of a thriving department and a strong university governance system. Bucknell has a 5 course/year teaching load for tenure-track positions. Teaching experience and completed Ph.D. by August 2013 preferred. Applications must be made electronically. Complete dossier should include at least three letters of reference, a statement of teaching philosophy, and evidence of potential for teaching excellence (syllabi and teaching evaluations: “Other document 1”).
