The department of classics seeks a tenure-track, entry level assistant professor as a fourth, full-time member of the department, beginning August 2000. The department seeks a generalist philologist with an emphasis in Latin language and literature to teach a sequence of literature and civilization courses, Latin and Greek at all levels, and courses in the applicant's area of expertise. A completed Ph.D. is preferable. Bucknell requires a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching including interest in contributing to a general liberal arts education and evidence of publication-oriented research. Bucknell offers a pre-tenure leave program.
