Visiting Assistant Professor, Butler University, Classical Studies Program, starting August 14, 2012. One year position, 3 courses per semester. Ph.D. (completed prior to June 2012) in Classical Studies strongly preferred; ABD applicants will be considered. We seek a generalist with expertise in Greek language, literature, and culture.The successful candidate will have an interest in further developing and expandinga small Classical Studies Program. Courses to be taught include Ancient Greek Perspectives (a culture course in the core with emphasis on texts in translation), Greek Art and Myth (a mythology course in the core with art emphasis), and Drama on the Ancient Stage (an upper-level course focused on Greek or Roman tragedy or comedy). Other courses will depend on the competencies and interests of the successful candidate, but we are interested in offering a course on Gender and Sexuality in Antiquity.
