CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY - LONG BEACH, CA
Assistant Professor of Classics (Approved tenure-track position) with a specialization in Classical Archaeology effective August 26, 2002. Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology or Classics, specialization in archaeology of ancient Greece, ability to teach undergraduate courses in classical archaeology, Greek and Roman civilization and at least one classical language, potential scholarship leading to publication, ability to provide students with archaeology field experience, ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Preferred qualifications include: (1) sub specialization(s) in archaeology of Rome, Etruria, ancient Egypt and / or the Near East; (2) ability to teach general education courses, develop curriculum, teach writing through the curriculum, integrate computer technology into the classroom, contribute to faculty governance, and perform student mentoring.

Duties include teaching areas of specialization, engaging in scholarly activity leading to publication, developing student fieldwork opportunities and participation in department, university and community service. Salary commensurate with training and experience. Range: $47,000 - $55,000. Position open until filled; review of applications begins December 3rd.
