CARLETON COLLEGE – NORTHFIELD, MN (Two Positions)
POSITION ONE: Carleton College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Classical Languages beginning September 1, 2010 at the rank of assistant professor. Ph.D. or its imminent completion is required. We are looking for someone to teach courses in Greek and Roman history, as well as Latin and Greek at all levels. Excellence in undergraduate teaching is essential. Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to teaching and scholarly potential. Letters of application should address relevant educational and teaching experience, including a statement of teaching philosophy and interests. Please also arrange to send us a c.v., a graduate transcript, a short sample of scholarly work (no more than thirty pages), and three letters of recommendation, at least two of which address your teaching. POSITION TWO: Carleton College invites applications for a two-year position in the Department of Classical Languages beginning September 1, 2010. We are seeking an entry-level teacher/scholar with broad interests in all aspects of Classical antiquity. Ph.D. or its imminent completion is required. Responsibilities include teaching Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as courses in translation. Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in any one of the following: ancient religion, philosophy, art, or material culture. The teaching load is six courses per year, two in each of three terms. Letters of application should address relevant educational and teaching experience, including a statement of teaching philosophy.
