CARLETON UNIVERSITY – OTTAWA, ON, CANADA
The College of Humanities at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Greek and Roman History at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2007. The BA in Classics is housed in the College of the Humanities (see www.carleton.ca/chum/ or http://www.carleton.ca/classics). We seek an outstanding scholar with a Ph.D. and a record of demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research. The successful applicant will be committed to undergraduate teaching including introductory survey and thematic courses. He/she may be involved at some point in the ArtsOne program (see www.carleton.ca/artsone/). Applicants should have primary expertise in the social/political history of ancient Greece, although the candidate should also be able to teach Roman history, and the ability to teach both the Greek and Latin languages will be essential. Faculty members at Carleton are expected to participate in the life of the academic community and to seek external grants in order to develop and support a program of research leading to significant peer-reviewed publications.
