The Department of Classics at Carthage College invites applications for a three-year position with the possibility of renewal. A successful candidate should be a generalist in classics who has strong credentials in teaching Latin language and literature at all levels. Specialty within Latin is open. The person should also be able to teach Greek at all undergraduate levels, beginning to advanced. Research interests in related fields such as ancient history, GIS, ancient geography, and anthropology are desirable. Women and minority scholars are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in classics in hand. The person hired should also be able and willing to teach in Carthage s core programs, including the Heritage Studies Program and have a strong background as well as a commitment to liberal arts. Founded in 1847, Carthage is located on the shore of Lake Michigan, midway between Milwaukee and Chicago, and is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
