CHRISTENDOM COLLEGE – FRONT ROYAL, VA
We have just been informed by Christendom College that the candidate search for their position advertised in the October 2008 issue has been canceled due to budgetary reasons. Christendom stated that all applicants would be receiving a letter to this effect prior to this publication.

The Department of Classical and Early Christian Studies at Christendom College announces a full-time position to begin August 15, 2009. This is an entry-level position for a junior scholar, but applicants at all academic ranks will be considered.

A successful candidate should have his Ph.D., be a Classics generalist able to teach Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels, and have interest in teaching spoken Latin. The department especially welcomes candidates with experience teaching Patristic Latin and Greek. We will consider qualified ABD candidates.

Christendom College is a small, coeducational liberal arts institution. The faculty ratify Christendom College's specifically Catholic character in their annual Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Christendom emphasizes teaching excellence in its faculty; hence, interacting with and mentoring students to help them integrate the doctrine of the Faith in their intellectual life is a premium of our mission.

Applications will begin to be considered from January 19, 2009.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter outlining research interests, a statement how Catholic doctrine effects their teaching philosophy, CV, three recommendation letters, scholarly writing sample, and other relevant supporting material to Edward A. Strickland, Dept. of Classical & Early Christian Studies, 134 Christendom Dr., Front Royal, VA 22630. Please direct inquiries about the position to Dr. Strickland (estrickland@christendom.edu).
