The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Classical Studies, beginning August 2004. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and will actively contribute to the growth of our Classical Studies program. Teaching responsibilities will include Latin language and literature at all levels, classical mythology, and etymology. The area of specialization is open, but strong preference will be given to applicants who have interest and experience in creating innovative courses in the classical tradition and interdisciplinary studies. The required course load is 4/4. Ph.D. in Classics in hand or by August 1, 2004, is required for appointment to a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, but well-qualified ABD candidates may be considered for a restricted (non tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Instructor.
