The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures invites applications for a restricted one-year appointment in Classical Studies, beginning August 2005.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to undergraduate teaching and learning and will actively contribute to the growth of our Classical Studies program. Teaching responsibilities will include Latin language and literature at all levels, classical mythology, and etymology. We seek a generalist, but strong preference will be given to applicants who have interest and experience in creating innovative courses in ancient culture, the classical tradition, and gender studies. The required course load is 4/4.

Ph.D. in Classics in hand by August 1, 2005, is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, but well-qualified M.A. candidates may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor.
