CLASSICAL ASSOCIATION OF THE ATLANTIC STATES (CAAS)
The Classical Association of the Atlantic States seeks a part-time Executive Director, effective October 2009, for a renewable three-year term. The Executive Director is responsible for coordinating CAAS's ongoing operations and provides continuity in planning, budgeting and policy. The Executive Director acts as Conference Coordinator, working closely with the Program Coordinator on CAAS's annual conference. See the website for full job description on the Regulations page (http://www.caas-cw.org/admin.html) and a fuller version of this ad on the News page (http://www.caas-cw.org/news.html).

It is preferable that the Executive Director be a faculty member or administrator at an institution in the CAAS region who can secure clerical help. All qualified persons, however, are encouraged to apply. The candidates must have formal training in Classics in addition to administrative, technological and interpersonal skills, membership in CAAS, and familiarity with CAAS events. The Executive Director designate should plan to assist current Executive Director, Mary English, in preparing the 2009 conference.

Compensation will be negotiated between the candidate and the Search Committee, subject to Board approval. Travel on CAAS business and office expenses are paid for by the Association (unless covered by home institution). Short-listed candidates will be asked to provide evidence of support, such as course release time, that their institution will provide.

Please send cover letter, CV, and contact information of two or three references to Dr. David J. Murphy, CAAS President, 370 Central Park West, Apt. 504, New York, NY 10025, david.murphy20@verizon.net. Review of applications will begin in mid-December 2008 and interviewing will continue until the position is filled.
