Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Classical and Medieval Studies. Applicants must have received their training in either Classics or ancient History.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach upper-level courses in ancient Greece and Rome, Classical Literature in Translation, and courses in his or her area of specialization. He or she will also teach in the classical languages curriculum; the ability to teach multiple languages is desirable but not required. The candidate may be asked to teach the first half of a Western Civilization survey and classes in Mythology. Other duties will include student advising and participation in departmental and university governance.

All requirements for the Ph.D must be completed by August 15, 2008. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and scholarship. The typical teaching load at CSU is 8 credit hours per semester; salary and benefits are competitive.
