COLGATE UNIVERSITY - HAMILTON, NY
The Department of the Classics is authorized to make a tenure-track appointment at the junior level. The successful candidate will be expected to bring philological expertise to a department that not only places high emphasis upon the teaching of Greek and Latin, but also plays a major role across the curriculum in courses taught in translation. The department seeks candidates with training and experience in the reception of classical antiquity in Western culture and beyond. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Colgate's Liberal Arts Core Curriculum program and to enable the department to rethink how it presents literature courses in translation to the larger student body. Applications and dossiers, including three letters of recommendation and a curriculum vitae, should be addressed to Professor Robert Garland, Department of the Classics, Colgate University, 13 Oak Drive, Hamilton, NY 13346. Review of applications begins November 15. Colgate University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
