Department of Classics is pleased to announce a search to fill a new tenure-track line in support of our dynamic and growing program. We seek a historian of the Greek Classical or Hellenistic world, capable of teaching ancient Greek and Latin language classes at all undergraduate levels and committed to developing the Greek history curriculum. We are interested in candidates with a demonstrated research focus that complements the interests of current faculty and an interest in
contributing to the Honors College and First-Year Experience Program. The tenure-track position will begin August 16, 2011.
Ph.D. in Classics is required. Salary is competitive. For consideration send cover letter, resume, three letters of recommendation, official copies of transcripts of graduate work, evidence of effective teaching and a sample of scholarly writing to the Chair of the Search Committee, Department of Classics, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC 29424 by November 1, 2010. Representatives of the College will conduct interviews at the annual APA meeting. The Department of Classics currently consists of five tenured/tenure-track faculty with growing enrollments in Latin, Greek, and civilization courses.
