The Department of Classics invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Classics beginning in August 2007. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in hand by that time and be qualified to teach undergraduate courses in Greek and Latin language and literature at all levels, Classical literature in translation, and Classical mythology and civilization. Special interest and expertise in Latin language and literature would be desirable, as well as familiarity with the teaching environment of a small private liberal arts college. Successful candidates must demonstrate commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as scholarly achievement. The position carries a 3-2 teaching load, with guaranteed full-salary semester research leave for junior faculty and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for senior faculty.
