The Department of Classics at Columbia University invites applications for an appointment at tenured rank to begin July 1, 2014. The field of specialization is open, but we aim to complement the expertise of the current faculty; particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, post-classical Greek literature and culture; ancient science, religion, and magic; material culture; exchanges between the Greco-Roman world and the Near East. We seek an individual with a significant publication record, proven excellence as a teacher, and an interest in participating in all aspects of the Department’s pedagogical program, including advanced and graduate level language course, courses in translations and Columbia’s Core Curriculum.
