DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY
The Columbia University Department of History seeks to appoint an assistant professor of ancient history, specializing in Roman History, for a three-year period beginning in Fall 2008, with the possibility of reappointment. The successful applicant will pursue research and teach in the graduate and undergraduate programs of the department and in the College's Core Curriculum. Ph.D. required by start of appointment. DEPARTMENT OF CLASSICS
The Department of Classics at Columbia University has been authorized to make an appointment at the level of tenured associate or full professor, with specialization in Greek literature and culture. Applicants will be expected to teach a wide range of courses at all linguistic levels, elementary to graduate, to teach regularly in the Columbia core curriculum, and to be able to undertake significant administrative duties within the department. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research embraces philosophy and/or political science, and in applicants with proven experience of teaching and academic administrative service in North American institutions.
