Cornell College, a private undergraduate liberal arts college, invites applications for a one year visiting assistant professor position in Classical Studies. Teaching responsibilities include three Greek and Latin language courses (Beginning Greek III, Intermediate Latin, and an advanced Latin course: Roman Historians), and three courses in translation (Classical Mythology, Women in Antiquity, and Roman History). Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and a willingness to contribute to a growing, interdisciplinary program in classical studies. Candidates should have their Ph.D. or be near completion of the degree. Cornell College has attracted national attention for its distinctive academic calendar under which faculty teach and students take one course at a time in month-long terms. The College is committed to excellence in teaching and encourages interdisciplinary interests among its faculty. Appointment at the visiting assistant professor rank to begin in late August 2012.
