CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY – OMAHA, NE - UPDATED JANUARY 25, 2013: SEARCH CANCELED DUE TO UNFORESEEN BUDGETARY CONSTRAINTS

The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies at Creighton University has been authorized to seek applications for a tenure–track appointment of a teacher/scholar at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2013. Area of specialization is open.

Primary teaching responsibilities consist of six courses a year. Depending upon the candidate’s area of specialization, courses taught could include Greek or Latin languages, history, literature, or visual culture. Preference will be given to candidates with broad intellectual interests that will foster cooperation with other humanities departments (such as Art History and History) and create innovative courses in ancient civilization. Evidence of an interest in digital humanities would be welcome. The successful candidates will also be expected to teach humanities offerings in Creighton’s core curriculum, and may also contribute courses to the College of Arts and Sciences’ Honors Program. Faculty in the department are expected to maintain a productive scholarly agenda, teach successfully, and engage actively in service to the department, college, and/or university. The Ph.D. must be in hand by the date of the application deadline.
