The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College has been authorized to initiate a search for a tenure-track appointment in Classical Archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin September 2012. Full time teaching load is four courses per academic year over three ten-week quarters. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach courses at all levels of Greek archaeology, including participation as faculty co-director of the department's Off Campus Program in Greece that is run every other year during the spring quarter. A commitment to teaching a range of other topics, including both Latin or Greek language and courses in classical civilization, is also desirable. The department views itself as promoting a balanced, multidisciplinary program of study in Mediterranean antiquity, and thus especially welcomes applications from candidates interested in the interaction of the numerous disciplines encountered in exploring the Greco-Roman world. In addition, we welcome applications from those who have an active field research project. A Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology by the time of appointment is preferred.
