DARTMOUTH COLLEGE – HANOVER, NH (Three Positions)
POSITION ONE: The Classics Department at Dartmouth College invites applications for a position in Latin Literature at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The field of specialization is open. The Department welcomes candidates with ideas about how a variety of interpretive approaches and methodologies can be incorporated into an undergraduate curriculum, including (but not limited to) such areas as literary and cultural theory, and topics that span traditional disciplinary boundaries. The position involves a commitment to building on and developing our offerings in Latin language and literature. The teaching assignment consists of four courses per year and regularly includes Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as literature in translation. It is preferred that the Ph.D. be in hand by July 1, 2008, when the appointment begins.

POSITION TWO: A full-time position starting September 2008. We seek a Classicist, preferably with Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2008, to teach courses in Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as one or more courses in Classical civilization. The two-year visiting appointment requires the teaching of four or five courses annually over three ten-week academic quarters. Competitive salary and benefits.

POSITION THREE:The Department of Classics at Dartmouth College anticipates an opening for a one-year visiting professor to teach courses in introductory archaeology, Greek archaeology and elementary Latin from September 2008 through March 2009. In addition, the candidate should be prepared to assist a Dartmouth faculty member in Greece during the Spring quarter of 2009 (late March through early June) for the department's off-campus program (extensive travel required). Ph.D. is expected at the time of appointment (July 2008).
