The Classics Department at DePauw University seeks applications for a full-time one year position at the rank of assistant professor for 1999-2000. The position has been approved by the administration. Ph.D. required. We seek a broadly trained classicist, who can teach Latin at all undergraduate levels, and who can teach a variety of courses in translation. Courses likely to be taught would include Latin, Greek and Roman Mythology, Roman Civilization and/or the survey of ancient history, and a freshman seminar.

DePauw has a liberal arts college of about 2,000 students with no graduate programs. Excellence in teaching is the primary emphasis ( the load is 3 courses each semester plus a Winter Term) but the candidate should be engaged in active research. The position has been approved by the administration. Ph.D. required; research specialty in classical art and archaeology preferred, association with an active excavation desirable. We seek a broadly trained classicist, who can teach, in addition to courses in art and archaeology, a variety of courses concerning the classical world, particularly Greek and Roman Mythology.
